What the internal link checker looks for
Most link checkers count links. This one understands them. The crawl builds a topic model of your content and the graph of in-text links between pages; navigation, sidebar, and footer links are excluded on purpose, because a page reachable only through a menu is still an orphan where ranking signals are concerned.
From that model, the checker surfaces the three problems that cost the most rankings: pages with few or no inbound contextual links, related pages that never link to each other, and thin anchor patterns. Every finding is concrete: source page, target page, and the exact phrase in your copy that would make a natural anchor.
When you want the findings fixed rather than listed, the same engine becomes an internal linking tool: approve the suggestions and they ship to your site through one small script. For the methodology behind the checks, see our internal link audit page or the complete internal linking guide.
